Be still and know that I am God!

"Be stilland know that I am GodI will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." (Psalm 46,10; NIV)

Stillness. Absolut stillness. Do you know what this feels like?
If you are like me, I guess, you don't.

Especially during Christmas time, there is always something going on:
Christmas parties, concerts, meeting friends, buying gifts, baking cookies, etc.

Sometimes, we feel so tired that we tend to forget what the most important thing is. What Christmas stands for.
What does Christmas stand for?

For me, it's exactly this phrase: "Be still and know that I am God."
What do you mean, God? Are you kidding me? In all this stress, in all these circumstances, in all these situations, where people need my help?

"Yes," says the almighty God. This is exactly what I want you to do.
Be still. Wait on me. Listen to me. I am talking to you non stop but you don't listen to what I'm saying.

God continues: "Do you enjoy the Christmas season? Do you trust me to give you all that you need? Or do you just distract yourself with stuff?"

Always doing and not being. Joyce Meyer says that we are human beings and not "human doings". And so does God.

Have you ever realized the people around you? Have you talked to them? Have you seen and enjoyed nature in all its glory? The trees, the snow, the sun, the animals. Have you enjoyed a good meal or talked about something intimate that worries you with a friend?

Have you stopped to smell the roses? (Ringo Starr)

What is it that makes the world go round for you?
For me, it is God. And he deserves our time. And it is good for us too to just stop during our day and talk to him, show him something, make room for him.

We get new energy for our lives from him. We urgently need to get still and be at peace, be at rest.

Be stilland know that I am GodI will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.

God created everything. He is exalted by people around the world. And he will be exalted one day in heaven by every human being on earth.
That is a miracle.

God will give us rest and peace if we listen to him. If we take the time and just say: Here I am. Give me strength. Give me new energy, let me enjoy things and people. And then, I can cut the stress. I can say "no" when I have to.
It's just a small, quiet voice of the Holy Spirit who says to you: "My child, just for a moment, be still."
